DVM, owner

Nicole Walljasper

Dr. Nicole Walljasper has been practicing veterinary medicine in Southeast Iowa since 2017, after graduating from University of Missouri College of Vet Med. She bought her practice (previously known as Parkview Vet Clinic & Shannon Vet Clinic) from Dr. Don Shannon in 2023. Since January of ’23, she has been working hard to update both clinics and has big plans for the future of the practice!

A native of the area, Nicole grew up on her parents’ farm, always helping with the numerous pets they’ve had, sparking her passion for helping animals at a very young age. Nicole, with her husband Justin and son George, have started a zoo of their own with their Great Pyrenees Vera and several cats, as well as chickens, ducks, rabbits and even a turtle!

In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking & spending lots of quality time with her nieces and nephews. She is very passionate about providing excellent patient care and exceptional attention to detail for every patient that comes through our doors.

Co-owner

Justin Stewart

Justin Stewart and his wife Dr. Nicole are the co-owners of Walljasper Veterinary Clinic. Justin works hard behind the scenes to make sure all aspects of the clinic run smoothly, but you will see him helping in the office quite frequently as well, when extra help is needed! He is an avid sports fan, primarily baseball, and loves to cook and entertain for family and friends in his free time. Justin is passionate about providing a great work environment for staff, as well as excellent customer service to our clients.
Assistant/practice manager

Abby Ross

Abby Ross has been working with the practice since Dr. Nicole brought her onto the team as an assistant in 2017. She is now the practice manager at the Fort Madison location and works with Nicole and Justin to keep things running smoothly up front and behind the scenes. She and her husband Nico have two boys, Mylo & Luca. They also have a Great Pyrenees named Theo, a Golden Retriever named Nora, and three cats. She enjoys cooking, coffee & spending time with family and friends.
DVM

Sara Frueh

Dr. Sara Frueh, a native of Missouri, has been a veterinarian on staff at Walljasper Vet Clinic since 2022. She and Nicole graduated together from University of Missouri College of Vet Med in 2017. She and her husband Aaron have their own herd of cattle in rural West Point. Dr. Sara enjoys spending free time with her friends and family, reading, and playing with the cows on their farm! She and Aaron also have a 13-year-old Basset Hound named Molly, and a cat named Dust Bunny.
Assistant

Emily Holtkamp

Emily Holtkamp joined the team as an assistant in 2020. Her specialty is assisting the doctors with their surgical procedures and monitoring. She and her husband Brett live in rural West Point just down the road from their family pig farm! They have three dogs, a Wire-Haired Terrier named Max, Izzy a Goldendoodle, and Edna their English Bulldog. Emily is an avid reader, dog lover, and a major Swiftie. She loves spending her free time with friends and family.
Assistant

Trista Jones

Trista Jones joined the team as a full-time assistant in 2023 shortly before graduating from FMHS. She lives in town with her two dogs, Bullet and Moose, and two cats Pancake and Waffle. As well as assisting at the clinic, she has taken on managing our impound facility for strays in the city, getting them reunited with their families or adopted out to a new home if they aren’t reclaimed! Trista has a serious sweet tooth, and she enjoys going on the river and spending quality time with her friends and her dogs.
Assistant, manager - West Point location

Patti Knight

Patti Knight manages and works out of our West Point location. She has been a part of the team since Dr. Shannon hired her to work at Shannon Vet in 2013. She and her husband Craig have a Mini Goldendoodle named Teddy. They enjoy entertaining and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and friends whenever they have the chance.
Assistant

Kiley Bohnenkamp

Kiley Bohnenkamp started as an intern here at the clinic before graduating from FMHS in 2024. She now works part time as an assistant at the clinic while attending college at SCC on a pre-vet track. She loves the outdoors, and her hobbies include trap shooting, hunting and spending time with family.
Assistant

Melissa Marie

Melissa comes into the clinic in her spare time to help with chores and kennel duties. She runs her own breeding facility with tons of adorable Cockapoos and Goldendoodles, called MK Acres. She and her husband Mick have three boys – Max, Mason & Myron - that are involved in sports and love to ride dirt bikes, so she is kept very busy!
Assistant

Lindsey Forquer

Lindsey Forquer is a part-time assistant with us at both clinics. She is a newer member to our staff, coming on board in 2024, but brings tons of knowledge and experience from running her own kennel called Cammie’s Country Canines, where she breeds Bulldogs & Mini Dachshunds. She and her husband Jesse have three kids, and are kept very busy, but enjoy camping as a family when they have time.
Clinic cat

Beatrice

Theo and Betty are our beloved clinic cats. They are both close to 4 years old, and were both brought into our clinic’s impound facility as strays that won over the hearts of our staff members.

Betty is our sweet & sassy front desk greeter. She likes dogs but sometimes isn’t quite sure about other cats. She is a serious cuddle-bug, and is always ready to cuddle her favorite regular clients in the waiting room every time they stop in, or sit on the laps of staff members and get the pampering she deserves!

Clinic cat

Theodore

Theo and Betty are our beloved clinic cats. They are both close to 4 years old, and were both brought into our clinic’s impound facility as strays that won over the hearts of our staff members.

Theo loves hunting outside the clinic, napping by windows, and greeting customers at the front desk. He is always a lover, unless you are trying to cut his nails, then all bets are off! He has quite a mind of his own, and his favorite activity is making clients let him in and out of the clinic at his wish.
